Sometimes books just fall into your lap and you fall in love with them. Such is the case with Spaghetti with the Yeti by Adam and Charlotte Guilain. Grayson, our oldest, has had a love of Yetis, Snow Monsters, and the like since conquering Disney's Expedition Everest roller coaster last spring. So when I was ordering books for Christmas, I thought this book would be perfect for him. I couldn't have been more right! He loved it, and so did I! Seeing him laugh over and over at this book inspired me to create a book companion to stretch our learning and enjoyment even further. I knew that if he loved Spaghetti with the Yeti, my first graders would too! In this hilarious book, a little boy named George wants to have a snack with the Yeti, but encounters some other surprising monsters along the way with their own opinions of what the Yeti might eat! If you haven't read this book, I recommend you pick up a copy! Your students will laugh at the surprisingly hilarious monsters (especially when you read their reactions in silly monster voices!), and will be excited to find out what the Yeti actually eats! (As of right now, you can get it from Scholastic Reading Club for $4! That is a great deal!) In the book, each monster says the Yeti would like a food with a certain type of sound, lending itself to the natural connection of making inferences! I gave my students the challenge of giving a sound and color clue of food their Yeti might eat, and then we all tried to make an inference! I also loved the vocabulary included in the book and wanted my students to use the text to create their own definition of each word. My students came up with great ideas and absolutely loved creating their Yetis! While this pack can be used as a book companion, the Yeti craftivity can also be used as a stand alone activity. Patterns for the craftivity are included. Yeti stationary is also included in the pack, inviting students to write their own Yeti story! You can find this fun pack here on TpT!

We are using this fantastic book as our class text this Autumn to inspire the children about journeys as well as teaching them key literary features. The worksheets would be really useful to aid to children to collect their thoughts and ideas about mythical creatures and create their own one!
