Hi everyone! It's Becky, and I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for another Five for Friday! (Where has the time gone?!) This week we learned how to add three numbers! To help them learn this, I created some directions that we say and mirror together using some Whole Brain Teaching inspiration! My kiddos think they're BIG STUFF when they learn how to do this! After learning the steps, they were ready to roll with the concept and could easily solve the problems! Be sure to check out the video! My favorite part is when they teach each other at the end! If they can successfully explain it to their partner, then you know they have grasped the concept! We finished writing and publishing our turkey stories this week. To practice persuasive writing, I let the kids choose which stance they wanted to argue: to eat the turkey or to save the turkey! I was surprised that the room was evenly divided by those who thought we should/should not eat turkey. So after they all read their stories to me as I typed them, we finished the project with a cute turkey craftivity! Some of their ideas were too funny! On Tuesday, Veteran's Day, our district had our first ever Walk of Heroes! All students in our district walked on our high school track honoring our veterans. Community members and veterans themselves were also invited to walk. The students also raised money for the Veterans Memorial Garden at our high school, honoring the brave servicemen and women who have served from our school district. It was a very moving experience to see our whole community show support for our veterans. The kids were very excited to walk, and it was really neat to see them walking with their families, some of whom were veterans themselves. The sense of pride everyone had for our veterans could be felt throughout the stadium. I came across this little note the other day after our station time. I thought it was really cute, and I was happy to see that my kiddos are starting to understand the purpose of writing notes. We went through a stage where some of our notes were "I love you." or "I like you." So after some discussions and modeling, we are now into the question phase! A few weeks ago Greg surprised me with Dierks Bentley concert tickets (#besthusbandever)! The concert was Thursday evening, and we had such a great time! Dierks is such a great performer and he really engaged the crowd! The song choices were perfect, and it was an all around fun time! Luckily Friday was pajama day, because after getting home late from the concert and getting a lot less sleep, I was not in the mood for dressing up! We took a time out today to take a pajama day selfie! That's all for now! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! Be sure to check on the Doodle Bugs Teaching linky to see what everyone was up to this week!
