BECKY
Hello! My name is Becky, and I first have to tell you that I love first grade! Although I'm sure teachers see growth at all grade levels, I think there is an AMAZING amount of growth in first grade. What other grade do you have where they come in as b-e-g-i-n-n-i-n-g readers and end the year with awesome comprehension and fluency, and reading chapter books?! So, with that said, I am entering my tenth year of teaching first grade., all in the same district. It is actually the same district that I grew up in! For my first seven years I even taught next -door to my first grade teacher! (CRAZY!) Teaching in my district felt like coming home again, and I love all of the wonderful families that make up this district. Because I have been teaching first grade for a while, I love to change things up each year to keep it fresh!
I graduated from Elizabethtown College in 2005 with a B.S. in Elementary Education. Greg and I met my first year at Etown. He started his ed. classes a little late, so we ended up in some of the beginning courses together my first semester. His incessant tapping on my chair soon led to conversations and now the rest is history!
After my first year of teaching, I began a masters program at Penn State Harrisburg. I graduated with a Masters in Literacy and reading specialist certification in the summer of 2009. The education I received from Penn State has been extremely valuable as a first grade teacher, since teaching the kiddos how to read is the main goal for us! I hope to share some of the techniques I use with you all!

GREG
Hey everyone! My name is Greg and I like to teach! I am about to enter my 12th year of teaching social studies and I feel like I'm only getting started! My first year and half of teaching was at an all boys boarding school outside of Philadelphia. During that time, Becky and I got engaged - so living with 17 boys outside of our apartment wasn't the most ideal situation for soon-to-be newlyweds. I landed a job at a fantastic high school in York, PA and haven't looked back! I am extremely lucky to have technology in my classroom - as it plays a central part of my instructional tool belt. As a result of my passion for technology infusion, I earned a masters degree from The George Washington University in 2009 in Educational Technology Leadership.
I am also committed to incorporating project based learning in to my classroom. I score a great group of students each semester who continue to surprise me with their creativity and the high level of work they produce. Their commitment has made my job much easier when trying to pull off the grand ideas.

our family
On Christmas Eve, 2009, we were blessed with our first son Grayson. He was truly a Christmas surprise, and continues to surprise us everyday with his love of books and continuous planning and plotting of his ideas! In April of 2012 we were blessed again with our second son Urban. He is a total second child! Laid back, happy, and just goes with the flow most days. He absolutely loves basketball and we're thinking we will soon have to start a toddler league for him!
